On December 20, Huashun Electronics, a subsidiary of the founder of Tether, has been included in the list of seriously dishonest and illegal entities.

Tether founder Jean-Louis van der Velde served as chairman of Shenzhen Huashun Electronics Company before founding the Tether company. According to Tianyan Check records, the company was fined a small amount for “illegal patent activity” in 2012, and often owed taxes and fines for late payments. The company has also received several prosecutions from creditors but gave no responses. According to the Financial Times, Huashun Electronics seems to have shut down most of its businesses in China and has been included in the list of "seriously dishonest and illegal".
