Demonstrators from 15 European Countries Protest Data Center Expansion, Demand Moratorium on Saturday

According to Guru Club, on Saturday November 8, demonstrators from over 100 civil organizations across 15 European countries took to the streets to protest rapid data center expansion, citing concerns over energy consumption and environmental impact.

Approximately 2,000 people marched in Dublin and roughly 1,300 gathered in Helsinki, with similar demonstrations held in towns across Finland, Scotland, Spain, France, and Denmark. The alliance "Stop Dirty Data Centers" called for halting large-scale data center projects until clearer regulatory frameworks are established, stating the action aimed to "prevent AI data centers from expanding unchecked and stop our democratic systems from being held hostage by big tech interests."
