According to Reuters (November 5), Elizabeth Warren is expected to chair the Senate Banking Committee starting January 3, 2027, following Democrats' victory in the November 3 midterm elections and subsequent control of both chambers of Congress.
Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat and the committee's current ranking member, has consistently advocated stronger oversight of cryptocurrency exchanges, stablecoin issuers and digital asset intermediaries. As chair, she would gain greater influence over committee hearings, legislative negotiations and cryptocurrency-related bills. Her anticipated leadership could complicate efforts to advance existing industry-backed proposals such as the CLARITY Act, which seeks to establish clearer jurisdictional boundaries between financial regulators.
