According to Elliptic, on November 5, 2026, the cryptocurrency stolen from Binance on October 29 may be moving through Chinese money-laundering networks, as investigators continue tracking the $6.34 billion theft. In the first three and a half days following the breach, attackers moved funds through approximately 12,000 wallets across 11 blockchains in more than 40,000 transactions—averaging roughly one newly used wallet every 25 seconds. Elliptic estimated that approximately $3.35 billion remained in addresses associated with the theft as of its latest update, with most holdings consisting of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Binance reported on November 3 that approximately $2.85 billion in affected assets had been frozen or intercepted, with the exchange replenishing 98% of impacted token assets using its own resources. The FBI has attributed the attack to TraderTraitor, a North Korean state-linked hacking group.
