FBI Names North Korean Hackers Behind $6.34 Billion Binance Theft on October 31

According to the FBI, North Korean state hackers were identified as the force behind the $6.34 billion theft from Binance, the largest digital asset heist on record. The operation, dubbed TraderTraitor, was announced on October 31, two days after the unauthorized withdrawal. Binance's official incident disclosure report details an intrusion spanning from June to late October, beginning with a trojanized coding tool and escalating through credential theft and social engineering. By October 29, the attackers used stolen credentials to access the wallet-signing system and approve transactions outside standard protocols. Binance stated it will absorb the loss and has rebuilt affected systems.
