Goldman Sachs Trading Desk Flooded With Calls Amid Tech Selloff, Sees Few Buyers

According to John Vlad, head of Goldman Sachs' Americas equities execution services, the bank's equities trading desk experienced a surge in client calls on Thursday as investors sought market interpretation following a technology stock selloff. Vlad noted in a report to clients that Wednesday was one of the busiest trading days of the year for the desk, but "today is completely the opposite," with phones "being overwhelmed with clients seeking market color."

However, the firm found few actual buyers in the market to match the selling pressure, leaving limited liquidity to absorb the flow.
