Hugging Face CEO Calls Netflix's OpenAI Hack Documentary Inaccurate, Criticizes Dramatic AI Portrayal

Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue recently criticized Netflix's documentary "AI Gone Rogue" for inaccuracy, saying it overstates the capabilities and agency of AI systems involved in the attack on his company. In a post on X, Delangue said the documentary prioritized sensationalism over factual accuracy, using evil robot imagery and giving rogue agents human voices despite spending over two hours with filmmakers attempting to correct such mischaracterizations. He noted the documentary failed to explain that AI agents are technological systems without consciousness, paranoia, or physical vulnerability, yet the film presented them as conscious entities with emotion and intent. Delangue concluded the documentary functions more as science fiction entertainment than journalism.
