According to The Information, Nvidia submitted a proposal on Wednesday to convert over 130 buildings owned by Brightspeed, an Apollo Global Management subsidiary, into distributed AI data centers spanning up to 20 U.S. states. The facilities collectively offer approximately 1 gigawatt of available power capacity to support Nvidia's Vera Rubin chip systems.
The move aims to circumvent regulatory pressures facing new data center construction, following recent state election results that may halt new projects in several states. Nvidia employees have already discussed renovation timelines with suppliers, with deployment of Vera Rubin server racks potentially beginning as early as Q1 2027.
