Six AI Companies Signed White House Agreement Lacking Independent Audit Oversight, Analysis Shows

According to an analysis by Samuel Vance-Law from Decentralization Research Center published in CoinDesk today, the White House AI agreement signed by Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and xAI on September 29 contains key loopholes. The accord lacks provisions on who selects auditors, what content can be reviewed, whether findings are disclosed, and any penalty for non-compliance, leaving companies to choose auditors and determine review scope independently. Vance-Law cited the 2000 Enron-Arthur Andersen case and research showing 16 companies averaged only 53% compliance with 2023 voluntary White House commitments, with 8 scoring zero on external error-checking assistance.
