Tesla Halts Cybertruck Production in Mid-2027, Sales Down 48% Year-Over-Year

According to CEO Elon Musk on Friday, November 6, Tesla will cease Cybertruck production at its Texas gigafactory around mid-2027 to make way for Cybercab expansion. Musk said Tesla will add an extra production shift to complete outstanding orders before dismantling the line.

The decision reflects weak sales for the vehicle: Tesla sold 20,237 Cybertrucks in the US last year, down 48% from 38,965 units in 2024, far below Musk's original 250,000 annual target set at production launch in 2023.
