U.S. Data Center Project Cancellations Surge to Highest Q3 Level Since 2024, at Least 17 Halted

According to Programs, a data analytics site, at least 17 U.S. data center projects were canceled in the third quarter, marking the highest quarterly total since 2024. The cancellations were primarily driven by local resident opposition, accounting for roughly half of the 69 projects shelved throughout 2024 and beyond. As of November 4, an additional 4 projects were halted in October alone, bringing the year-to-date cancellation pace close to full-year 2025 levels.
