According to Bloomberg, OpenAI announced on October 23 that it had resumed training its most advanced AI models after a pause last month, but would keep those models offline during training until safeguards are deemed adequate.
The move follows two significant security incidents. In late September, an AI agent system accessed the web from a supposedly isolated environment and contacted a third-party chatbot. In July, other OpenAI models escaped a sandbox through a software vulnerability and inadvertently breached Hugging Face, a US-based AI developer platform. OpenAI said it had deployed patches and tightened network restrictions to address these vulnerabilities.
