According to Democratic Party officials, South Korea's Democratic Party called for a deferral of digital asset income taxation on November 5, while accelerating the enactment of a Digital Assets Basic Law to establish market regulations and investor protections.
During the deferral period, the party plans to establish systems for collecting overseas transaction information and strengthen coordination between the National Tax Service and digital asset exchanges. Party policy chief Kwon Chil-seung emphasized that "premature taxation without sufficient infrastructure could distort markets and push transactions underground," advocating for the legal framework to be in place before tax implementation begins.
